Stunner Certification
& Check Services
Independent stunning checks for compliance, welfare and operational confidence
Livetec’s Stunner Certification & Check Services help poultry processors demonstrate compliance, support animal welfare and maintain confidence in the performance of their stunning equipment.
We provide independent assessments for both Controlled Atmosphere Stunning (CAS) systems and Electric Waterbath Stunners (EWS), giving you clear evidence that your equipment is operating effectively and in line with statutory regulations, assurance schemes and welfare standards.
Each visit includes practical testing, expert observations, a detailed report and certification that can be used to support veterinary inspectors, assurance schemes, auditors and internal management teams.
Our stunner check services are designed to provide more than a pass certificate. Alongside independent verification, we help processors understand how their equipment is performing in practice and where improvements may be needed.
Whether you operate a controlled atmosphere stunning system or an electric waterbath stunner, Livetec can support you with:
Independent third-party assessment
Certification for audit and assurance purposes
Practical reporting for engineering and management teams
Identification of anomalies or performance issues
Recommendations to support continuous improvement
We recommend building these checks into your annual welfare and compliance programme,
with follow-up visits available where changes have been made or further validation is needed.
Controlled Atmosphere Stunner (CAS) Check Service
Our CAS Check Service independently assesses the performance of your controlled atmosphere stunning equipment to help you maintain compliance, support welfare outcomes and provide evidence for audit and assurance purposes.
The assessment reviews system performance, gas concentrations and exposure times to ensure your equipment is delivering effective stunning in line with welfare standards and operational expectations.
What’s included:
-
Independent third-party certification
-
Detailed assessment of system performance
-
Evidence for veterinary inspectors, assurance schemes and auditors
-
Practical recommendations where improvement is needed
-
Greater confidence that your system is operating consistently and effectively
CAS checks are typically carried out as an annual visit, with additional follow-up support available if you have made changes to your equipment or want to validate improvements.
Electric Waterbath Stunner (EWS) Check Service
Our Electric Waterbath Stunner Check Service provides an independent assessment of poultry waterbath stunning systems across chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and other poultry species.
Using specialist monitoring equipment, our team measures the electrical performance of your system and compares the data collected against your intended settings, species requirements and welfare standards.
Each check is carried out by a Livetec specialist on site, working alongside your plant team where needed to complete the assessment safely and effectively.
The service can help assess:
-
Current delivered per bird
-
Frequency and waveform performance
-
Consistency of electrical contact
-
Evidence of pre-stun shock
-
Interrupted connections
-
Other faults or anomalies affecting performance
Following the visit, you receive a certificate for audit and assurance purposes, along with a more detailed report for your engineering and management teams. This includes the recorded data, observations from the visit and practical recommendations for any remedial action that may improve performance.
