Jonah's Handling extends RSPCA Assured capability with chicken certification
Jonah's Handling has further strengthened its poultry handling capability after achieving RSPCA Assured certification for chicken, extending the range of RSPCA Assured services it can provide to the UK poultry sector.
Earlier this year, the catching and handling division of Livetec achieved RSPCA Assured status for its work with turkeys. The addition of chicken marks another important step in the development of the division, broadening its capability across different types of poultry and the services available to producers.
The latest achievement forms part of Jonah's Handling's continued focus on animal welfare, professional standards and investing in the knowledge and skills of its people.
The team has undertaken training in biosecurity and hygiene and health and safety on poultry farms, working with colleagues at Livetec to ensure that knowledge reflects the practical demands and standards expected when working on customer sites.
Alongside its core catching and handling services, Jonah's Handling is continuing to develop the skills and capacity within its team to provide producers with additional practical support when they need it. This includes a team of trained vaccination specialists, as well as experienced team members available to provide additional labour support on poultry farms.
By investing in its people and broadening the skills available within the team, Jonah's Handling can respond more flexibly to customer requirements while maintaining a consistent focus on animal welfare, biosecurity and professional standards.

The additional certification gives producers greater choice when looking for experienced catching and handling teams working to recognised welfare standards, while the continued development of the team is enabling Jonah's Handling to provide a broader range of practical support to poultry businesses.
