Welfare-led poultry handling recognised by RSPCA Assured

Jonah’s Handling has achieved RSPCA Assured certification, strengthening its welfare-led poultry handling service for producers across the UK.

The certification recognises the standards delivered by the specialist poultry handling teams, including its approach to training, bird-handling, supervision and on-farm working practices.

Jonah’s Handling became part of Livetec in May 2025, bringing more than 18 years of poultry handling experience to the business. The team historically operated in Norfolk and Lincolnshire, particularly in the turkey sector, but now span the UK.

Rob Willetts, director of Jonah’s Handling, says the achievement is an important milestone for the team and its customers.

“Everyone is really proud of this achievement. We know the responsibility that comes with working on our customers’ farms, and we take that seriously every day,” he says.

“This certification recognises the standards our handling teams works to and the care they put into every job. It gives producers added confidence that they’re working with a team committed to doing things properly, with animal welfare front of mind.”

For producers, the certification provides additional assurance when selecting poultry handling teams to support welfare-led systems and supply chain requirements.

As part of Livetec, Jonah’s Handling forms part of a wider livestock protection service, combining poultry handling with expertise in animal welfare, biosecurity, contingency planning and depopulation.

The certification further supports Livetec’s commitment to delivering integrated, practical services that help poultry businesses protect bird welfare, workforce welfare and operational resilience.
