BFA Contractor of the Year Shortlisting for Defra work

A record number of nominations were made for this year’s British Farming Awards, reflecting the work of industry professionals, farmers and producers across the country in sometimes incredibly challenging circumstances. Livetec is honoured to be shortlisted for the Contractor Innovator of the Year title.

This recognition comes following a very busy year for Livetec. In 2020-21, we have worked closely with DEFRA once again, providing emergency depopulation services during Avian Flu outbreaks across the country. Come rain or shine we have provided timely, humane and welfare-first depopulation solutions the length and breadth of the nation. In fact, the Livetec team has been on the ground for every notifiable disease outbreak of the year, often responding in 24 hours or less.

Livetec’s work with DEFRA is something that has been a hallmark of our industry partnerships and biosecurity defence solutions for many years but the last 12 months have been some of the most challenging to date. In addition to new strains of Avian Flu peaking, we – like many businesses – have also had to contend with pandemic-related restrictions on movement and contact.

Despite these tough circumstances, we responded to outbreaks during lockdown and in the aftermath of the darkest days of the pandemic as usual, working with DEFRA to conduct timely on-farm depopulation of Avian Flu and helping to control outbreaks so farmers could get back to business as usual.

We’re honoured to be shortlisted for a BFA Award but even more so that it comes in recognition of our work with DEFRA. It is a potentially devastating disease for farmers and one that severely impacts their bottom line when not quickly dealt with.

The whole Livetec team is very much looking forward to the awards ceremony on Thursday 21 October.
