EPIC 2025: Working Together to Build a Smarter, More Resilient Poultry Industry

The Egg & Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) is always a highlight in the poultry calendar, a place where experts, producers, policymakers and innovators come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping our sector.

This year’s event was no exception. It brought fresh energy, new ideas, and a real sense that the industry is ready to embrace collaboration and technology to strengthen its resilience. Representing Livetec Systems, Julian Sparrey, Group Technical Director, joined discussions that made one thing clear: the future of poultry depends on working smarter, together.

Collaboration is the Cornerstone of Progress

Across every conversation, one theme kept resurfacing; biosecurity cannot exist in isolation. Producers, vets, insurers and regulators all have a role to play in preventing disease, and collaboration between these groups is becoming the industry standard, not the exception.

The shift towards shared data and consistent frameworks reflects a new mindset: that biosecurity isn’t just about reacting to threats but anticipating and managing them collectively. It’s an approach that sits at the heart of Livetec’s mission, helping the sector move from reactive to proactive protection.

Risk Management is Evolving

Discussions at EPIC also highlighted how the industry is rethinking insurance and risk. There’s growing interest in prevention-first strategies that reward good biosecurity and strengthen financial resilience.

By connecting verified biosecurity data with wider risk management systems, the sector is finding smarter ways to protect both animal welfare and livelihoods. Livetec’s digital tools are already supporting this shift, giving producers confidence through accurate records, evidence-based plans and real-time visibility.

Designing for Biosecurity

EPIC 2025 also reinforced that effective biosecurity begins with good design. From barrier systems and staff flow to on-site hygiene management, the foundations of disease prevention are built into how a farm operates day-to-day.

Livetec continues to work with partners across construction, consultancy and production to ensure new and existing sites are designed for efficiency, safety and sustainability, helping producers meet the highest standards of biosecurity from the ground up.

Protecting What Matters Most

EPIC 2025 made one thing clear; biosecurity, collaboration and data-led decision making are now central to the industry’s success. The sector is moving forward, and it’s doing so together.

That’s exactly what Livetec’s Livestock Protect Platform is built for. It brings every element of biosecurity together from planning and monitoring to compliance and reporting, helping producers strengthen their defences, reduce risk and protect their livelihoods.
