Northern Broiler Conference Reflections

Last week, members of the Livetec team attended the Northern Broiler Conference, a key event in the UK poultry calendar that brings together producers, vets, integrators and industry leaders from across the broiler sector.

Representing Livetec on the day were Neal Samet, Julian Sparrey and Jack Hughes. The conference format, with speakers, exhibitors and delegates sharing the same space, created a genuinely engaging environment. Conversations flowed naturally rather than being limited to brief stand side exchanges.

A highlight for us was seeing Julian Sparrey and Jack Hughes deliver their session on wild bird tracking and AI risk management. Their talk explored how wild bird intelligence, outbreak data and human movement can be brought together to better understand avian influenza risk. They also addressed the limitations that arise when reporting is inconsistent or incomplete.

The session prompted thoughtful discussion and reinforced a key message. Avian influenza outbreaks are rarely driven by a single factor. Risk builds through layers, including wild bird behaviour, people movement, operational pressures and data gaps. Improving visibility across those layers is critical for preparedness and confidence.

Beyond the speaking slot, the event provided valuable opportunities to reconnect with existing partners and meet new contacts across the industry. Conversations throughout the day reflected a shared focus on proactive management, data led decision making and supporting the next generation entering poultry production.

Thank you to the organisers and everyone who took the time to speak with us. Events like the Northern Broiler Conference play an important role in bringing the industry together and we are proud to have been part of the discussion.

If you are planning your next industry event, you can view where the Livetec team will be throughout 2026 on our events calendar: https://www.livetecsystems.co.uk/event-calendar-for-2026

We look forward to seeing you there.
