Livetec works with poultry and pig producers, vets and the wider agricultural industry to strengthen biosecurity, improve disease resilience and support businesses in protecting livestock and livelihoods.
While our work is grounded in science, practical solutions and technical expertise, it is also a people-focused business. Every conversation, every visit and every recommendation relies on trust, communication and understanding.
That's why investing in our people is an important part of how we continue to support the industry.
Recently, colleagues from across Livetec joined, both in person and remotely, for a mental wellbeing workshop led by David Beeney from Breaking the Silence. The session focused on creating kinder workplace cultures and explored how we can better support our own mental wellbeing while recognising when colleagues or others may need support.
The workshop covered practical topics including building resilience, encouraging open conversations, recognising the signs that someone may be struggling and developing the confidence to have supportive discussions.
More importantly, it reinforced that supporting wellbeing isn't the responsibility of one person or one department, it's something we can all contribute to through everyday actions and conversations.
One of the most memorable moments was when David gave everyone in person a tin of baked beans.
The instruction was simple: don't open it.
Instead, keep it somewhere visible as a reminder that supporting mental wellbeing shouldn't be confined to a training room. It's about checking in with colleagues, taking time to listen and recognising that a simple conversation can make a real difference.
As the agricultural sector continues to navigate evolving challenges, investing in people is just as important as investing in knowledge and innovation. By creating a workplace where people feel supported, listened to and equipped to support others, we are strengthening the foundations of our team and reinforcing the values that underpin the work we do every day.
