What Pig & Poultry 2026 Told Us About the Future of Biosecurity

Recognised as the UK’s leading event for the pig, poultry and egg industries, this year’s Fair welcomed 8,470 visitors across two days at the NEC, with conversations throughout the event focused on strengthening resilience, improving preparedness and adopting practical systems that support better decision making on farm.

For Livetec, the event also marked the launch of its refreshed branding and new website, reflecting the next stage of the company’s growth and its continued focus on delivering practical, data driven biosecurity solutions for the livestock sector.

Why It Matters

One of the clearest indicators of how biosecurity conversations are evolving came during industry panel discussions, where Barney Kay, Agricultural Director at Noble Foods, referenced Livetec’s work supporting producers with more effective biosecurity approaches.

Speaking during a poultry sector session, Barney said:

“Noble Foods has been working with Livetec Systems to help its farmers adopt more effective protection. It’s about ensuring we’re focusing on the right areas.”

Jack Hughes, biosecurity advisor at Livetec adds, “Conversations across the event really reflect a wider shift and awareness of the value of good biosecurity, as a core part of long-term business resilience and operational planning.”

Bringing Biosecurity to Life

At stand 20-220, visitors experienced interactive demonstrations designed to show how biosecurity can be practical, accessible and effective in real farm environments.

This included the retro fit step over barrier, developed to support safer movement between biosecurity zones, the Spot the Risk interactive game, and the LIVE Access Protect experience, showcasing QR based visitor traceability and real time farm access monitoring through the Livestock Protect platform.

The strong engagement throughout the event reflected the sector’s appetite for practical solutions that can make an immediate difference on farm.

Julian Sparrey, technical director at Livetec said:

“Today at the Pig and Poultry Fair has been phenomenal. We’ve had crowds on the stand all day and made some really good contacts.”

Mubien Nakhooda, Livetec’s platform developer reflected on the conversations taking place throughout the event:

“It’s been great to see how strongly people resonate with our products and how directly they connect to what’s happening on farm. The conversations throughout the event showed just how focused the industry is on strengthening biosecurity and protecting long term farm resilience.”

Dean Button, Product Owner at Livetec added:

“We’ve had a number of conversations around collaboration and integration, which reflects how the industry is increasingly looking at practical ways technology, data and operational biosecurity can work together more effectively.”

Leading Conversations on Biosecurity

Alongside the activity on the stand, Livetec also took to the Innovation Stage and Pig Theatre to contribute to industry discussions around disease resilience and farm preparedness.

The session Predict, Prevent, Protect: Year-Round Disease Risk & Biosecurity featured Julian Sparrey and Amy Davies from Livetec alongside Stuart Bird of Bird Brothers Ltd and Annie Davis from George Veterinary Group, exploring practical strategies producers can implement to strengthen year-round biosecurity across pig and poultry enterprises.

Livetec also joined AHDB for the session Three Practical Steps for Protecting your Farm from African Swine Fever (ASF), where Dr Paul Talling and industry experts discussed outbreak preparedness, movement controls and hygiene measures designed to safeguard pig businesses against ASF risk.

Together, these conversations reinforced the growing importance of practical, collaborative approaches to biosecurity across the sector.

Looking Ahead

The British Pig & Poultry Fair 2026 once again demonstrated why the event remains such an important platform for collaboration, innovation and industry discussion.

As disease risks and operational pressures continue to evolve, the conversations taking place across the sector are increasingly focused on resilience, preparedness and long-term protection.

For Livetec, the event reinforced the importance of continuing to support producers with practical expertise, operational support and connected digital solutions that help strengthen biosecurity where it matters most.
